Jefferson East, Inc. and LISC AmeriCorps are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as "Housing Development Research Associate”.  The candidate will serve 300 hours through the end of his/her term. 

This is a paid AmeriCorps position that will report to JEI’s CEO & liaise closely with the Director of Housing & Neighborhood Services. The qualified candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with a diverse populations—i.e. from residents to municipal, state, and federal offices and agencies.  

This position will enhance and expand on the JEI housing services team activities by:

  • Creating an implementation strategy to establish a Jefferson East Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). 

  • Developing a framework for a corridor wide referral network that leverages JEI’s position as a City of Detroit Housing Resource Center.

  • Conducting research and assessment of potential referral partners’ service offerings.

  • Developing a framework for Rental Tenant Assistance Programs.

  • Conducting research and provide recommendations of program modifications and enhancements.

  • Providing written updates & executing any actions needed that arise from attendance at municipal, community, or partner meetings, to JEI related to rental, mortgage, financial assistance programs CARES Act legislation: federal &/or state.

  • Assisting with permanent resource page development for JEI’s Neighborhood Resource HUB.                                               

  • Researching health & housing focused programs that would be relevant to JEI’s Housing Services.

  • Assisting with baseline strategy development to implement interconnected and client centered service delivery.
