on Giving Tuesday!
It's time to get ready for the largest global giving day of the year - Giving Tuesday! We're excited to be a part of this event. We have set a goal to raise $50,000 in just 24 hours to support two very important JEI funded initiatives: The Domestic Violence Advocacy program in partnership with the Urban Advocacy Corps of the Center of Urban Studies at Wayne State University and the JEI Rooftop Fund.
Domestic Violence Advocacy
In 2018, there were 1787 incidences of domestic and intimate partner violence within the 5th and 7th precinct service areas. This year, JEI was able to help 516 survivors with a range of recovery and preventative services which include:
Assisting with and paying for Personal Protection Order (PPO) petitions
Developing personalized safety plans
Connecting survivors to other supportive services including counseling and shelters
JEI Housing Rooftop Fund
One of the greatest needs expressed to JEI’s Housing & Neighborhood Services team, by residents within the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood, are critical roof repairs.
The JEI Housing Rooftop Fund will help those who are affected by disability, family circumstances, age or income and struggle to maintain a safe home. By this work, critical life, health and/or safety and affordability issues are alleviated.
With your help, we can reach our goal and do this important work in the community. These are just two of the many important services JEI offers.
