JEI is offering home repair assistance to qualified homeowners in Jefferson-Chalmers!

As a 2020 awardee of MSHDA's Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP), Jefferson East, Inc. (JEI) is offering home repair assistance to qualified homeowners within the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood. 

NEP is designed to launch improvement projects directly tied to enhancing and stabilizing communities. To help address the home repair needs of the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood, JEI will use the funding to provide improvements to at least ten owner-occupied, single-family homes. This includes up to five roofs, and also emergency repairs such as post-flood waterproofing of basement walls. Funding is limited to select repair types, with the capacity for 10 to 12 homes total.

Types of repairs offered:

  • Roof repair or replacement (funds limited to $7,500 per property)

  • Minor plumbing (basic basement drain snaking) 

  • Hot water tank replacement

  • Minor waterproof painting (basements only)

  • Gutter/downspout replacement (max 2 units per property)

To qualify:

  • Must own and occupy the home as your primary residence

  • Be current on your property taxes

  • Have current homeowners insurance

  • Annual gross household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income
