Jefferson East, Inc. (JEI) have partnered with AmeriCorps Urban Safety to help you protect your property! According to the Detroit Police Department (DPD), auto thefts are currently up by 32% overall in the City of Detroit.

Particularly, within the 7th Precinct, auto thefts have increased by 45%. The top neighborhoods impacted within this precinct district are:

• Lafayette-Elmwood Park

• Rivertown

• West Village

• Islandview

Here's the great news! Within JEI's service area/targeted neighborhoods, the percentage of auto thefts have DECREASED by 16% overall. This decline is a result of our public safety initiatives including:

• Vehicle hardening events - providing free vin etching, wheel locks & car clubs

• An increase in secondary police patrols in these neighborhoods

• Community CompStat - lead by the DPD
