We are grateful for our housing team and the work they do, day in and day out, helping Detroit homeowners and renters in need. Within this work, we would like to congratulate Rebecca Nikodem, in her new role as JEI’s Housing Sustainability Manager.

Rebecca is a valued member of our Housing and Neighborhood Services Team, managing the caseload for JEI’s home repair and energy efficiency programs, and counseling residents based on one of our core housing values, sustainability. These efforts reinforce JEI’s mission to serve residents by improving the health and safety of their homes. By assisting homeowners with navigating and successfully obtaining critical resources, we increase our ability to help residents remain in their homes. Rebecca’s work has aided JEI in earning its status as one of the City of Detroit's leading Housing Intake Centers, securing over 1.5 million in home repair dollars & grants to help homeowners.

 Rebecca obtained her bachelor’s degree in Urban & Regional Studies from the University of Michigan - Dearborn. She is certified in Homeownership Counseling through the NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling (NCHEC), and also passed the HUD Housing Counselors Certification Exam over the summer. This fall, she started a master's degree program in Applied Data Science through the University of Michigan School of Information.

Rebecca is part of the team that will be on-site at JEI’s new Neighborhood Resource Hub, set to open later this fall in Jefferson-Chalmers.
